| Jean-Michel Jarre - Magnetic Fields Band: Jean-Michel Jarre More than great I bought my first Jarre-CD, when I was 8, and I have no idea, why I bought this record one year later. I had no idea of, what the record would sound like, but when I came home and listened to it, I was caught by it. Something, that I never had heard before, I just had heard. The Five tracks together push a great symphony out of Jarre's mechanic keys. This may be my favourite Jarre, but I'm not sure. The record starts off with a catching ambient noise continuing thru the next 7 minutes of the track. Samples are laid on the main sample, small rhytmns, beats and breaks do the harmonic background of this track. The track continues into more spacey and harmonic tunes used to make a more-than-ever exploring mood, but in the end, it transforms itself into another part of the track filled up by a wave. The track ends with a saxophone-sample, and the first side of the record is over. Funny, isn't it? The second side of the record starts with a clapping beat, which then transforms into another harmonic groove. Sounds of clocks and trains fill the passage between the second and third track, where the sounds of clocks takes over. The Samples are still laid on the third track, where the volume of the third track slows down and the fourth track comes in with a haunting keyboard sample. Beats and bass are laid on, and another harmonic groove begins. Sounds of busses and trains fill the end of the track, where the Last Rhumba take over, with a great dancing tune, made for you and your dancy soul. The first track is my favourite because of its length, and harmonic value. The other tracks are great too, but this track has haunted my musicial soul, since I bought this record. Be sure to buy it, if you're a Jarre-fan. You won't regret. Magnetic Fields Forever I bought this album when it first came out 20 years ago. Yes, I've been a Jarre fan since the 70's when I first bought his record because I liked the cover, and I liked the music even better. For you Jarreheads out there, this is an essential album to own. It follows the tradition of numbered tracks with Magnetic Fields 1 through 5, though track number 5 is also subtitled "The Last Rhumba". The Last Rhumba has always been my favorite, but the rest of it is great too. It's vintage Jarre at it's best!
