| INXS - The Best of INXS Classification: Pop Band: INXS Tracks: - Need You Tonight - What You Need - By My Side - Taste It - New Sensation - The One Thing - Disappear - Never Tear Us Apart - Original Sin - Mystify - This Time - Suicide Blonde - Beautiful Girl - The Gift - Listen Like Thieves - Devil Inside - Bitter Tears - Not Enough Time - Salvation Jane - Tight - Don't Change Interesting but Flawed I thought I knew INXS, from seeing the videos on MTV and owning a video they made. But after listening to this album, about 10 times, I have to conclude that I do not know the complete picture. I looked forward to singing along with their hits. But this album has all sorts of songs that I never heard. I guess that comes about from listening to their hits alone and not buying any of their albums--as far as I know--other than this album. May be I have missed something about INXS, since I'm middle-aged. This could have been an excellent album. But it is not. You've got to get INXS' "Anthology" Album! I don't know about you guys? But I think it'd best, if you quit your whining. If you're gonna diss this monolithic, montage of the latest (greatest) "The Best Of" INXS album - then look no further: you should consider buying the consummate (boxed set) INXS "Shine Like It Does-The Anthology" (1979-1997). It showcases all their hits. (Sure it costs a little more, but it's way worth it.) I used to have their (original-release) "Greatest Hits" CD for a couple of years; but since then, I've traded it for the "Anthology." I've been a fan of INXS' music since the mid-80's, when I was in the 5th grade. The "GH" like "Best Of," Was pretty dissapointing 'til I got their other album. "The Anthology's" 2 CD set is fantastic! The album comes handsomely appointed to complement ones CD collection. (Needless to say, it has some songs on it I don't particulary care for such as, "We Are The Vegtables.") Nonetheless, it has all the great songs I'm looking for: New Sensation; Never Tear Us Apart; The Stairs; Not Enough Time; Beautiful Girl; Elegantly Wasted; and much more.... It has the liner-notes (booklet) that chronicles in retrospect, the astonishing career of the late INXS frontman, Michael Hutchence. With the sea of '70's and '80's music from the past...INXS musical-style transcends that of other (with INXS originating from Australia) great Aussie bands of their era, like Midnight Oil and Crowded House. Michael's deep-resounding, resonant-voice is a rhapsody of his impeccable singing and song-writing skills. The money spent on this album, will reciprocate in years of listening enjoyment. Beware.... Edited! While this is a great CD, in that INXS has produced great music, the Creators of this compilation did us all a disservice by cutting out chunks of certain songs... I imagine in the interest of cramming more songs on there. One of the best lines INXS created ('it's hard to believe we need a place called hell..'), and a lovely bridge out of "Beautiful Girl" have simply disappeared. outrage! I suppose there are others I have not caught yet, as well.... Buy Inxs The Best Of Inxs at Amazon.com Buy posters at Allposters.comJamster - the latest ringtones for your phone! |
