| Iggy Pop - King Biscuit Flower Hour Band: Iggy Pop Tracks: - Instinct - Kill City - 1969 - Penetration - Power and Freedom - High on You - Five Foot One - Johanna - Easy Rider - Tuff Baby - I Feel Alright (1970) - Winners and Losers/Scene of the Crime - Search and Destroy - Cold Metal - Squarehead - No Fun - I Wanna Be Your Dog Rock It Down This is a great record! I first heard this on the King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1997 while going through HARD times. I hadn't listened to anything in about a year and had sold off my record collection and pawned my stereo. I couldn't believe how good it sounded. I finally bought it after it was released officially and it continues to blow my mind every time I hear it. There is no holding back on this album. The musicians are in fine form, and the guitarist, Andy McCoy, is otherworldly, perhaps in more ways than one! A great follow up to this album is the book written about this tour by bassist Alvin Gibbs entitled "Neighborhood Threat: On Tour With Iggy Pop." According to Gibbs, this isn't even one of the better shows from the tour. This is hard rock at it's finest, and Iggy proves that there was life in '80s, and rock before grunge! "Neighborhood Threat" in Action The fine book "Neighborhood Threat," an account of life on the road with Iggy in 1988-89, is personified here. Iggy, married and civilized but still savage, goes on tour with a fine band--and rips up just about every gig with a power not seen in years. This being the Instinct tour, songs from that album are liberally represented. "High on You" is a pure assault; the title track kills; and "Cold Metal" and "Squarehead" are slaps to convention. The Stooges' stuff is not forgotten. "1969" and "1970" are thrown around nicely, and Iggy still demands to be our dog. As Live gigs go, this is a fine example. Utter Mayhem! This album rocks, totally no BS. I bought this used and listened to it once and put it away. Later on (about a year!) I was going through some hard times and pulled it out while looking for something to motivate me which I could relate to. I was totally floored!! The energy is unbelievable and it goes to show that Iggy is the godfather of punk. I now realize that Rollins, Manson and all the rest learned a great deal from this much underrated and talented rock icon!! I now own a good percentage of this guys catalog, having moved on to The Stooges and reveling in "Beat em Up." Iggy just keeps going and going and going. Rock lives!
