| Gak Sato - Post Echo Band: Gak Sato good if this is your cup of blood... This one could be easily labelled as a so-called "nu-lounge" record. Basically it's a blend of house music and lounge music (a vague term which encompasses everything from easy-jazz to film music reminiscent of Ennio Morricone and all those great italian composers). It's a good record, not as shallow and monotonous as a dance album but still... well, danceable! It's the kind of stuff you'll hear in a super-cool club ;-). If you end up liking it I have some further suggestions for you: first of all, "Pan Am, the sound of the '70s" by Yoshinori Sunahara and more recently "The Mirror Conspiracy" by Thievery Corporation (they both got excellent reviews). Personally I think that nu-lounge is a kind of music made by djs who obviously aren't gifted with the same skills of the old-time composers (they are not real musicians after all). They try to counterbalance by adding some synth-tricks and machine-made beeps but trust me... unless you are more interested in dancing than in listening to good music you should definitely try real-lounge music (Piero Umiliani, Bruno Nicolai, Piero Piccioni, etc...) Extraordinary Mediterranean Sip-Hop This album showcases pan-exotic beats, speghetti western reverb, spacey spanish styles, and enough tonal wonder to put it far beyond the duldrums of typical house music. It's like Nino Rota electronica! Buy Gak Sato Post Echo at Amazon.com Buy posters at Allposters.comJamster - the latest ringtones for your phone! |
