The Bear Family a deserve six star rating for this chronological set of ALL the Imperial recordings with detailed discography listing session musicians, locale etc. along with essays on aspects of Fats life and times. I heard my first Fats track in 1956 and it's still as fresh today. The music is never complicated but is imbued with fun, light and air. What your excuse for not having this set in YOUR collection? Beautiful I Dither around- what's the best music ever made since 1950- The Band (early), The Everly Brothers, The Beatles? I still don't know, but the happiest, cheerfullest music I've ever heard is from this box set. One great song after another, nothing wasted- some songs are only 1:30 long. New Orleans has produced so much good music, but I think this is the best. Maybe this is the one set of music I couldn't Live without. Pure joy. I don't think any human being from any Culture could fail to Love this music. The ultimate collection This set is without question the best of FATS you could ever get your hands on Audio quality is terrific. And the alternates are great to hear.
