| Earth Wind & Fire - Faces Band: Earth Wind & Fire Tracks: - Let Me Talk - Turn It into Something Good - Pride - You - Sparkle - Back on the Road - Song in My Heart - You Went Away - And Love Goes On - Sailaway - Take It to the Sky - Win or Lose - Share Your Love - In Time - Faces Every true EWF fan has this CD! Earth, Wind, and Fire provided the Soundtrack for my adolescent years. I had the biggest crush on Maurice White and, to this day, still have the posters that came with the albums! This album, as do all EWF albums, features both ballads ("Sailaway"; as classic a ballad as EWF's "I'll Write a Song For You" and "Imagination") and funky tunes with a message ("Let Me Talk," "And Love Goes On," "Win or Lose). The final/title track, "Faces," Brings it all together. At least three times a year, I pop this CD into my 6 disc changer with 5 other EWF CDs and jam and reminisce. Great stuff! Too much of a good thing? "FACES", EWF's 12th album, reminds me of Fleetwood Mac's "TUSK". Both were double-albums that followed a pair of hugely successful projects, and both seem to suffer, in only in comparison. All the usual things one comes to expect from EWF are here: the sense of joy & wonder, great playing, stunning production. I just don't think the songs stand out as much as on most other albums. "Let Me Talk", "Turn It Into Something Good", "Pride" (what power!) and "You" (another gorgeous Love ballad co-written by David Foster, just prior to his "taking over" of The Band CHICAGO) are all nice. After that it starts to get a bit lost. Like a number of recent albums on CDs, "FACES" might have been even better than it is with a few tunes left off. Multi-faceted Faces During Earth Wind & Fire's incredible run of great albums between "Head To The Sky" and "Raise", the album that seems to be most overlooked by people is 1980's "Faces". Released after the massive success of 1979's "I Am", this album features great cuts like "Let Me Talk", "And Love Goes On" and "You", which were all released as singles. Several great album cuts such as "Turn It Into Something Good", "Win Or Lose" and "You Went Away" make this a very Strong package. Unfortunately, the albums lack of a Strong crossover single(like "Boogie Wonderland" or "After The Love Has Gone" on "I Am")"Faces" only achieved gold status upon it's original release. This album is still Strong and has held up well and definitely deserves more than it's initial response. True EWF fans know this album is great, for those who may have missed it, go back and check it out.
