Don, Glenn, Joe, Tim, & Don, 'nuff said!

I'm not sure that I can say anything that the other 69 people haven't already said about this 15 song work of art. Just an unbelievable Live album, probably the best Live recording ever. These songs really need no introduction, because they're such well known classics. 'Tequila Sunrise', 'Hotel California', Take It Easy', 'Life In The Fast Lane' and 'Desperado' are 5 superb classics played to absolute perfection. The 11 Live songs on this album sound as good as a studio recording,(they're that great). 'Wasted Time' and 'I Can't Tell You Why' are a couple more of my fav songs on here. There are 4 newly recorded studio tracks on here: 'Get Over It', which has a cool guitar- intro, and Don Henley ripping it up on vocals. 'Love Will Keep Us Alive' is one of the most beautiful ballads of all time, and a true instant Eagles classic. 'The Girl From Yesterday'(G. Frey) and 'Learn To Be Still'(D. Henley) are both grade-A musical perfection. I can't recommend this one enough, it is Truly enjoyable to listen to time after time. If you don't have it, you know what to do. ROCK ON!

Could've been better. But it's still great

I've never liked the combination of Live and studio tracks on the same disc. If you got some new songs you wanna show off, do 'em Live already! And then put out a REAL studio album - not just four tracks which aren't really Eagles songs anyway.
But having said that, this is the Eagles, and that means that what is on here is nothing less that superb. When The Eagles reunited in the spring of 1994, Frey, Henley, Walsh, Schmit and Felder were still as great as they had been Fifteen years earlier, and the completely acoustic rendition of "Hotel California" is worth the price of the CD alone. Just listen to that intro!
The vocals are great, the playing is super, but the choice of songs is a bit disappointing. The first four tracks, the "new" songs, which are recorded in the studio, aren't really Eagles songs. Well, "Get Over It" probably is, because it was co-written by the two undisputed leaders of the band, singer/guitarist Glenn Frey and singer/drummer Don Henley. "Love Will Keep Us Alive", a beautiful soulful ballad sung by Timothy B. Schmit, is a Paul Carrack song. "Learn To Be Still" is obviously a Don Henley-song (co-written by Stan Lynch), and the lovely "The Girl From Yesterday" is patented Glenn Frey (and co-written by Frey's songwriting partner throughout his entire solo career, Jack Tempchin).
They're great songs, don't get me wrong, but they're not Eagles songs - with the possible exception of "Get Over It".
And then there are the Live tracks. Why must they do Don Henley's "New York Minute" on the Eagles' reunion album? And where are Five of their best songs (and biggest hits), "One Of These Nights", "Lyin' Eyes", "The Best Of My Love", "Heartache Tonight" and "The Long Run"? They do more than half of the songs off "Hotel California", two from "The Long Run", one from "Eagles", two from "Desperado" and not a single one from "Eagles On The Border" or "One Of These Nights".
(The Eagles actually did "One Of These Nights", "The Best Of My Love" and "Heartache Tonight" at these two concerts from which these Live cuts are taken. All the more annoying.)
This should have been a Double Live album to take the place of "Eagles Live" from 1980. And, honestly, who needs four sloooow piano-and-string-laden ballads ("Wasted Time", "Desperado", "Pretty Maids All In A Row" and the never-ending "The Last Resort") on the same record when there's only room for 11 Live tracks? Come on! Play some rock n' roll, for God's sake! Or if you want to do ballads, do "Doolin-Dalton". And the reprise, too.
But hey - this is what we got. It could've been better, but this being the Eagles, that still makes it a better album by far than 95% of what is out there. So that's okay, I guess.

Its good...if you like Live albums

Personaly, I dont like Live albums or cuts. The sound of the clapping and the whistles halfway through the song get to me. It reminds me of those DJ's who just have to get in their little advertisments before the Actual singing begins, whether or not the intro is pretty. It drives me crazy! That said, this album is satisfactory. It is good background music, and the legendary performers themselves are of course wonderful. Even live, they sound perfectly harmonious throughout. Noone is offkey as far as I can tell at all. The music is slightly different from studio versions of course, but that is expected. I personally Love "New York Minute" for the nice harmonies and unisons and the music, although it sounds ever so slightly like something from "Phantom of the Opera" at first. But it's still gorgeous. They have also included the famous quote "Just for the record, we never broke up..." you know the rest. I thought this was nice little addition for fans who might have attended the concert. It is at the beginning of "Tequila Sunrise". This is a good CD to get IF YOU LIKE Live ALBUMS!!!! I forgot to find out whether this one was when I got it, and I was sorely disappointed at first, until I got used to it. Don't do the same. Read up on your info before you buy!
