| Depeche Mode - Walking in My Shoes Band: Depeche Mode Try these shoes on for size. The 7" Mix isn't much different from the album version, basically just a radio edit with the instrumentation punched up a little. The Grungy Gonads Mix is cool. Elements of this mix were used on the Devotional tour when this song was performed. The Random Carpet Mix has great percussion and Electronic bleeps. The Extended 12" Mix is by far My Favorite WIMS mix on the CD. It's very bass heavy and has some of the extra punchiness of the Grungy Gonads Mix and some echo treatments added to the vocals. The Anandamidic Mix is very cool with tribal-sounding percussion loops and additional wah guitar parts. The Ambient Whale Mix is just that, ambient, with Samples of Whale calls. It's light on the vocals, but still pretty cool, although the Whale loops get to be a little annoying after a while. My Joy is the real standout of the entire single, both in the 7" Mix and the Slow Slide Mix. Is just excellent! One of the best DM songs, and the B-Side My joy is also excellent. You've got to buy it! AMAZING! What can I say? Walking in my shoes has been for a long time one of my dearest songs. There are amazing tracks and remixes here. The WIMS remix called Ambient Whales is one of the greatest remixes I've ever heard, and the one called Grungy Gonads Mix is may be even greater. WIMS, btw, is so beautiful and sad, and when i listen to it i just feel so relaxed and purified, especially to the end. Typically it's one of those songs that, although somewhat slow, makes you want to jump, run and shout filled with energy. The same applies to My Joy, which has even more energy. I think that My Joy is in the TOP 3 of the best DM songs.Passion - that's what it is about. I really can't understand why DM did not put it in the album - may be 'cos of the short lyrics - who knows. Anyways this track is awesome - a Chinese Wall of sounds - electronic, awesome drums + horns, strings (to the end). And that line "I am not a mountain, no. You Move me!" just moves you so much! So you're not a mountain - Move yourself and buy this single right away!!!!!!!!
