The Greatest Rock Album EVER!

Everyone seems to dislike Def Leppard and Hysteria because it was a huge part of the 80s Hair Band movement. Well, I'm here to tell everyone that this album is the greatest music I have ever heard. I'm serious. This is such a great album. Usually a so-called "good" album has its 2 or 3 hit singles and a bunch of other crap songs on it. Not only does Hysteria have 7 hit singles on it, the 5 other tracks on it are all worthy of being singles. This album just seems to have something on it that can appeal to everyone. It has its line up of singles (Rocket, Women, Animal, Love Bites, Hysteria, Armegeddon it, and of course Pour Some Sugar on Me) along with Gods of War, Excitable, Don't Shoot Shotgun, Love and Affection, and Run Riot. Another thing I need to mention- I am 15 years old. So don't you Dare think for one second that this album is "dated" or stale. If a fickle 15-year-old can Fall in Love with it, you can too. Pour Some Sugar on Me is my personal favorite form Hysteria. I first heard it on the radio and I thought that it was a new song from a Band I hadn't heard of. I really really liked the song,it had such a great rhythm and I just loved everything about it. So I looked it up on the internet and I found out the song was nearly 15 years old. I was amazed. I just thought it was a great new song. I had no idea it could turn me on to such a great band. I now own every album they have released.

Greatest Pop Metal CD of all time!

This here is what pop metal is all about. 7 singles released, 6 hitting the top 20. Not one weak track on this record in my eyes, every track could have been a top 20 smash. It has gone on to sell 12 million copies in the U.S and 17 million all together, an impressive feat. Here is my track by track review of Def Leppards Hysteria:
1. Women- An excellent opening track. Would have hit the top 20, had it been released earleir. Only hit #80. A mid tempo song, and the end gutair solo always gives me chills. 10/10
2. Rocket- An epic that was shortened on the Vault- Def Leppards greatest hits. An excellent song with a nice middle, and a fist pumping chorus. Hit #12. 10/10
3. Animal- A nice little pop rock tune that screamed radio. A catchy chorus and solid verses and gutair playing make this a great song. Hit #19.
4. Love Bites- Ah yes. The love/ power ballad everyone has heard. Great chorus, sentimental lyrics make this song a smash. Hit #1. 10/10
5. Pour Some Sugar On Me- The song everyone has heard. Leppards most recognizable song, is a great one. Different sounding then most their songs, but its still great. Hit #2. 10/10
6. Armageddon It- My fav. song on this album, and along with Photograph, my fav. Leppard song. Great Chorus and great playing by The Band make it top notch. The end gives me chills. Hit #3. 10/10
7. Gods of War- The epic on the album, like Die Hard the Hunter off Pyromania. Great song, if it would have been released, it prob. would have been shortened taking away its power. Great song! 10/10
8. Don't Shoot Shotgun- Maybe the weakest track on the album along with L+A. But the weakest on this album still makes it an excellent song, still single material. More fast paced then most on the album. 9.5/10
9. Run Riot- This use to be my fav. song from the Lep when I was a little kid. Great fast paced rock with a catchy chourus and awesome verses, and an amazing guitar solo by the late Steve Clark. Spectacular! 10/10
10. Hysteria- The last single on the album, but a great one at that. Nice ballad that was perfect for radio. As good as Love Bites in my eyes. Hit #10. 10/10
11. Excitable- I Love this song! Sure it gets repetitive, but it still is great. I Love the verses and the chorus. It could have been a great single, but because of its dance like beat, the Lep would be called ultimate sell outs. 10/10
12. Love and Affection- A great song, but not as Strong as Hysteria or Love Bites. Nonetheless, a touching ballad with a very Strong eneding. Single worthy. 9.5/10
Overall this is what pop metal was all about. Def Leppard are masters of the rock genre, after all, they havent sold over 30 million records in the U.S because they [are bad]. this is my fav. Band at their

Probably the best rock album ever!

Def Leppard's Hysteria is probably the best rock album ever. And there is a reason for that; each and every one of the songs is a possible hit (maybe with the exception of Excitable) and the production could not be better. Six of the seven released songs were chart bending hits.
The songs hit home on the first listen and that is the point. The album opens with the moody classic 'Women' and then launches into the loud and bombastic, yet equally melodic, 'Rocket'. 'Animal' with its gloriously singalong chorus is followed by an incredibly touching and emotional ballad: 'Love Bites'. Def Leppard have never, and probably never will, write a ballad as timeless and mournful as 'Love Bites'.
Probably the biggest highlight of the album is the perfectly executed 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' which became an MTV favourite. The anthemic 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' is as loud and tongue-in-cheek as it gets. The lyrics are humorous and are delivered in an unparalled style by Joe Elliott ("You got the peaches, I got the cream" or "Do you take sugar? One lump or two?"). The loud drums, the throaty vocals on the verse and the musical interlude with its guitar solo all drip of pure sexiness.
The effervescent 'Armageddon It' never loses its sparkle. Neither does the energised 'Don't Shoot Shotgun'.' Run Riot' is just about the fastest rocker on the album and reminds us that Def Leppard are a metal band.
'Gods of War' is more a piece of music than a hit single. Although just as melodic and tuneful as anything else on the album, it really is a different kind of animal in comparison with the rest of the songs. The chorus is an absolute storm of vocal harmonies which could shake the very foundations of your house if played too loud! The title track is definately one of my favourites here. It's windswept verse and slightly anxious chorus make it incredibly compelling.
Overall, the album doesn't let the listener go for one minute. It certainly is a must have in any rock collection because the longer you wait before acquiring this album, the more time you are spending missing out the the great music that makes Hysteria.
