I'm wearing this CD out...

Christina Aguilera's debut CD definitely proves that she'll be around for a while. I'll just give a quick overview for every track...
1) Genie In A Bottle - I Love this song. The lyrics are a bit suggestive, but there's no harm done. It'll have you singing the hook over and over before you know it.
2) What A Girl Wants - This song is great, but I prefer the faster remix, the radio and video version. However, this version could be great to listen to if you have a boyfriend and want to set the mood...okay, how cheesy did that sound...
3) I Turn To You - Christina's voice is definitely the strongest in this song. I don't really like the 30-second gap of just rain. When I turn to track 3, I wanna hear the song, not something I could hear by sitting by the window. Besides that, I Love it.
4) So Emotional - This song is way different from Christina's usual material. It's about a couple who can, for one moment, be fighting, and the next moment be making love. It's unusual, yes, but it describes exactly the type of relationship I'd be in...if I was even in one. ;)
5) Come On Over (All I Want Is You) - Again, this song is good, but the remix is way better. The remix is easier to dance to, and the vocals go better with the background music. I recommend just buying the single remix instead of listening to this one.
6) Reflection - By far, one of the best songs on this album. It's very deep and it makes you think about the world. Christina's voice is great in this song as well as "I Turn To You." It's perfect for the Mulan soundtrack.
7) Love For All Seasons - This song is great to listen to, but if you pay attention to the lyrics, the song doesn't have much individuality. Just listen to the music, and you'll be happy.
8) Somebody's Somebody - My personal favorite song. It's about a girl who just wants someone to be with. I'm sure tons of people can relate to it.
9) When You Put Your Hands On Me - Very suggestive, but I Love this song. I just don't think I'll be hearing on the radio anytime soon.
10) Blessed - Slow song, but it's a great ballad. It would do well as a single, I think.
11) Love Will Find A Way - Sure, it's a cliche song, but I like it. Good beat, catchy hook.
12) Obvious - For this song, in a way, you have to think of the meaning of it yourself. One of my faves.
If you buy this CD, you will not be wasting your money. You'll be listening to it for years (or at least months) to come.

Just another album....

It's a good album to listen to, but not that much more. You Call Christina "talented"... why? Because her voice sounds more powerful than others' and she can scream louder? What does it give ya? Christina's voice is way overrated. Speaking about powerful voices, Xtina is nowhere close to Mariah Carey nor Whitney Houston on their beginning. This album anyhow, has good melodies, good rythm and YES - the voice goes very good with the songs. It's better than "Stripped" though, which contains boring songs with some exceptions. Anyways, I wouldn't waste my money on it, but yknow - if you can get it somewhere else ;) Maybe Christina will improve better with her next album, as Britney Spears is about to do after hooking up with the hottest producers. Britney also produced and wrote a song all by herself =)
Some reviewer here wrote that Britney released 3 albums just like that, with no real music. Well, to Britney it will be harder to Change the 'pop' image simply cuz she's had more songs. Christina took a whole year break, that time Britney did the "Oops" album when people did not write their songs and all and guess what? It was the same producer that did most of the album. Pop was going Strong that time. Britney renewed herself with the 3rd album and actually,,, she was the one who started the thing of pop stars writing their songs. Britney has a powerful voice too, ever heard her on "Star Search"? She's just fitting her voice to the upbeat songs she sing and then it moves on ballads. Anyway, after came Christina with an album that is more mature, because she's had 3 years to do it. Plus, maybe after she saw pop is not going strong, she dropped alot of tracks she planned to do for the album. Anyway, I would prefer this album over the dead "Stripped" and not because this one is some masterpiece.

I don't have a attention-grabbing one-line summary

I could have use "Look Out For Aguilera-Mania", but I figure that will lose any credibility in me. I figure most of the people who wrote the reviews really like the album to begin with. Anyway, let's see, I do not like EVERY song on the album; there are probably 3 or 4 songs that I don't particularly like. Think about it, nowadays, you'll be lucky if you can find 3 or 4 good songs on any one album. (That's why there are those compilation CD's and MP3's) If you're looking for catchy songs, go buy the Britney Spears CD. If you're into soft, adult-contemporary music (ballads), you go get this CD. For those who haven't have the opportunity to listen to Samples of this CD, she is pretty much a combo of Whitney Houston (pre-"Preacher's Wife" Soundtrack days, when her voice is considerably higher) and Mariah Carey (pre-"Butterfly" album days, when she wears considerably, well, more). "Genie In A Bottle" is probably the best (and most catchy) song in the album (it's kind of a hard song to top) ... there's another catchy song titled "Come On Over (All I Want Is You)". However, in this album , you will mostly find songs (e.g. "Blessed", "I Turn To You") that are just like the ones by Whitney Houston and M.C. (In my opinion, this is a more justifiable comparison than the ones with Britney {I'll get to that}, although Christina Aguilera is not quite at their levels just yet, of course ... she needs more albums and more that just one hit (so far), but she's definitely got the potential. And in her album, her ooh's and aah's style is similar to the two superstars. Of course, there's always that inevitable comparison between her and Britney Spears. Sure, they're both from the Mickey Mouse Club. Sure, they have their little group dance in their videos designed for those short attention-span teenagers watching MTV and MuchMusic in Canada (yes, we do get TV's up here in our igloos). And sure, they probably shop at the same "EXTRA SMALL" clothing store. But this is not Miss Teen USA Beauty Pageant, this is music. Christina Aguilera's album has more of a "professional" touch with the help of Diane Warren (who wrote "Because You Loved Me" (Celine Dion) and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" (Arrowsmith)) per se, whereas "... Baby One More Time" has more of a "commercial" flavor. As well, Christina Aguilera displayed more of a musical talent by hitting her notes at the Tonight Show with Jay Leno .... all things consider, "Genie In A Bottle" is a "studio" song. The hype may have hurt her a little bit because people may place more expectations than normal on this album. With a movie comparison, it's kinda like "Star Wars" (which was not a very good movie, I don't know what I was doing at 4:00 a.m. on opening night, when I wasn't even a Star Wars fan to begin with) and The Blair
