| Children of Bodom - Tokyo Warhearts Live Band: Children of Bodom Tokyo Warhearts is Children of Bodom's #1 work Tokyo Warhearts Live in Japan is one of the best CoB releases to date. Being a fan since the begining I must say I have listened to EVERY CoB release including singles and a few special editions. But this one totally kills all of them. This Live CD was recorded as you guessed in Tokyo Japan in 1999. People were thinking that a Live cd after only 2 release was a waste and destined to fail. THEY WERE DEAD WRONG. This is the best Live album I have ever listened to it bests the snot out of all other Live CDs I have ever heard including Iced Earth Alive in Athens and Metallica Live Sh*t box set. Do yourself a favor if your into Live albums BUY THIS CD! Most of the songs are from their best studio release (Hatebreeder) and the sound quality totally kills any other Live CD on the planet. True melodic metal gods ! Altogether, there are eleven great tracks on this solid Live album. CoB played all the songs listed note for note, including a cover of Loudness's Crazy Nights and the theme from The Rock. If you're not familiar with CoB, then you'll be in for a surprise. Each of their songs are fast paced with plenty of catchy melodic hooks. The tempo of the songs changes frequently, and you'd find a guitar solo line in almost every 16 bars of each song ! Alexi Laiho is a true master of the 6 strings indeed. He shreds with plenty of flair, and nails every solo to perfection (all this and he was doin the lead vocals!). The rhythm section, lead by A.Kuopala and Jaska were pretty impressive too. True power metal fans may find the vocals disturbing, as it is basically Black metal grunts and growls. Nevertheless, I can't be really bothered because of the excellent musicianship. The overall production is very clean, with all of the instruments equally audible. My Sole complain would be the playing time of this album (a mere 44 minutes). They missed out several great CoB tracks, including In The Shadows and Children of Bodom. IMHO, they should have included these songs and lengthen their set. This box-set comes in a really neat package with great postcard-sized photos, and an excellent Live CD to top it off. For music fans seeking great guitar work and melodies, look no further ! METAL AND FINLAND'S BEST RELEASE A MASTERPIECE! every second of this CD is like gold. From the Intro, all the way to the classic "Towards Dead End". The box is way cool looking, and comes with an assortment of postcards with pics of when those Children of Bodom wreaked Heavy Metal havoc in Japan. This is a great addition to any metal collection. So just buy it from amazon, (like I did), and remember: "War is in My Heart, Death is By My Side". Up the Bodom!
