| Carpenters - Voice of the Heart Band: Carpenters Tracks: - Now - Sailing On The Tide - You're Enough - Make Believe It's Your First Time - Two Lives - At The End Of A Song - Ordinary Fool - Prime Time Love - Your Baby Doesn't Love You Anymore - Look To Your Dreams The Carpenters farewell Album? I Love this album, and I thought it was the final record from The Carpenters untill "Lovelines" came out 6 years later."Now," the last song ever recorded by Karen in April of 1982 is a classic. I really don't care for the chorus singers, but Karen wasen't around to do her fantastic backup singing with Richard.I'm sure if Karen never died, this would have been a huge hit. I Love "Sailing on the Tide." Its the only up-lifting song on this record. Its almost like Karen's telling us she's fine, but in a better place now. "Make Believe its your first time," from Karen's solo album that was released twelve years after her death, was the first single released. It was a big Adult Contemporary hit in billboard, and its much better on this album than Karen's. This is a sad album for the most part, and it came out not long after Karen's death."Look to you Dreams," with Richards slow piano playing at the end tears you Heart apart. It just makes you think, what would have happened if Karen got it together. I could hear her singing Madonna's"Crazy for you," or any of the other great Ballads that came out in the 80's. At least we have all The Carpenters records to cherish forever. music from a Heart of gold i am a huge carpenter fan. this album is not for beginner carpenter fans, but for the more experienced fan. it is very rich in the carpenter sound. a lot of these songs were overflow form the Made in America recordings. when karen left us, there were quite a few songs still not released. to this day i still believe there are even more. some of the songs heard here were work leads, as richard explains. that is, karen sang a song with out any instuments. then, the musicians added the instruments after they heard the style of her voice. that was a good example in the song NOW. even though karen did not Live to see this album released, i feel that she is looking down with a smile. you will not be sorry that you got this cd. An album filled with shelved Carpenter music now compiled. Voice of the Heart is a beautiful compilation highlighted by the vocalese that made the group #1 during the 1970's. Karen Carpenter's voice still reigns supreme in the Adult Contemporary/Pop genre in a business filled with one hit wonders by today's mediocre-at-best vocalists.
Brother Richard has arranged the best of the never released music which must have been a cathartic work for him after her death.
Highlighted by the hit "Now" and the uplifting "Sailing on the Tide" , the album serenades its Audience with the same wonderful
words and music combination that the fans loved and will continue to hold dear.
Thank you Carpenters.
