| Brand New - Your Favorite Weapon Classification: Pop Band: Brand New Brand New is great :-) I have to say that these guys are great! It's really refreshing to hear a local Band with the potential of becoming huge. Soco Amaretto Lime and The No Seatbelt song are great songs on the low key side, and then there's Jude Law and a Semester Abroad, which is more upbeat but equally amazing. Basically, the whole CD is awesome, which is unusually for a debut. Unfortunately, they're a bit overlooked and Brand New isn't too well known when you go out of the tri state area (NY, NJ, CT) but KROCK and other stations have been playing them lately. If you have a chance, I would definitely recommend buying this CD! Another overlooked pop-punk Band These guys are a local Band from the area where I live. They're from Long Island, and I saw them recently play. They put on an impressive show, and I knew I had to check out their cd. I just picked it up a few days ago and overall, it's a very good debut. These guys have the talent to become an excellent pop-punk band. The cd has some hard fast songs like "The Shower Scene", "Jude Law", "Sudden Death in Carolina" and "Magazines". The cd also has a slower and softer side, with tracks like "Mix Tape", "The No Seatbelt Song" and "Soco Ameretto Lime". They do both sides very well, and will surely satisfy the listener. So, these guys are another overlooked Band with the ability to become a great pop-punk Band in the future. Their debut is a good cd that will find it's way back into your cd Player over and over. Buy this cd, you'll be impressed. Is That What You Call A Getaway? Brand New is one of the newer hardcore punk bands to hit the scene. Their sound can be compared to The Used and Taking Back Sunday. But they are by far a better band. With dark,clever,and sometimes even humorous lyrics. "And even if her plane crashes tonight she'll find some way to disapoint me by not burning in the wreckage or drowning at the bottom of the sea" from the bands first single Jude Law And A Semester Abroad. And in my opinion some of the best lyrics in a punk song ever can be found in Seventy Times Seven, the albums stand out track by far. "Is that what you Call a getaway? Tell me what you got away with cuz ive seen more spine in jellyfish, I've seen more guts in 11 year old kids, have another drink and drive yourself home, hope theirs ice on all the roads, and you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt again when your head goes through the windshield". Other stand out songs include the "Failure By Desgin", the excellent ballad "Mixtape, "Sudden Death In Carolina", and "Magazines. Brand New may not be the most original band. But its kind of hard to be original when everythings been done before. But they do have the best lyrics of any punk Band out there today.
