| Blind Melon - Soup Band: Blind Melon Tracks: - Galaxie - 2X4 - Vernie - Skinned - Toes Across The Floor - Walk - Dumptruck - Car Seat (God's Presents) - Wilt - The Duke - St. Andrew's Fall - New Life - Mouthful Of Cavities - Lemonade This album should be plaing in everyone's stereo I got this album on the advice of a friend and I haven't stopped listening to it. I didn't know much about Blind Melon before this album. I had no idea what their "sound" was. They really create their own sound while using rock music as their base. This album is just packed full of melodious, soulful, rock music. Its hard to sum this album up in words because it is very original and intelligent. The songs sound very spontaneous and improvise-based with many containing several sections. Shannon Hoon has an amazingly comforting voice that sounds like he can sing anything and make it soulful. I think he's the most overlooked songwriter of the 90s. His lyrics are completely honest and original, some of the best I've ever heard. Blind Melon is probably the most overlooked Band of the 90s. They completely capture a vibe on this album and carry it all the way through. It really has to be listened to as an album to fully appreciate it. The songs are short but they seem right that way. One of my favorites is the opening track "Galaxie". It has such a big sing-along chorus. Another favorite is "Skinned", an odd, upbeat, song about serial killer Ed Gein complete with kazoo parts. My Favorite song on the album is "St. Andrew's Fall." It has everything that makes Blind Melon great: soul, musicianship, Hoon's voice and lyrics, and a completely different ending. It doesn't do Justice to the album to pick out favorites though since EVERY song is really good in some way. These guys can write and play with the best of them. You should buy this album if you're into good rock and roll music, you won't be dissapointed. Its got great guitar riffs, plenty of melodies, and solid songwriting. It is one of the best albums I own from start to finish. It's a change, but a good one. This album is quite different from the first album, but saying which is better is like comparing an apple to an orange. Blind Melon seemed to mature and try darker music this time around, while still including a little No Rainish happiness. While Car Seat, Skinned, and St. Andrew's Fall have pretty morbid lyrics, they are all amazing and powerful songs. If you like Blind Melon, or if you simply like music, this is a good album for you. Six reason to buy this album are: 1. Galaxie
2. Skinned
3. Toes Across the Floor
4. Dumptruck
5. St. Andrew's Fall
6. Mouthful of Cavities My favourite on this album is Toes Across the Floor. On the meaning scale, St. Andrew's Fall gets to me most. If I had to choose a least favourte at gunpoint, I would say New Life. All 14 songs are really great, but I'm at gunpoint here people. An amazing album so BUY BUY BUY! Can I say WOW? Well, I have to start off by saying that I was never a huge fan of Blind Melon, but after seeing their Behind the Music on VHI, I was hooked. I went to NRM to buy Blind Melon and they only had one copy left and nothing else. So I went on line to get Soup and Nico. I am addicted to Soup. I think it is one of the best cd's I have ever heard. Shannon's voice is so amazing and the music....where to begin? I couldn't even narrow one song down as my favorite. "Skinned", "Car Seat, God's Presence" and "Galaxie" have go to be my favorites. The one that makes me sad is "New Life" about Shannon finding out that he was going to be a father and how excited and scared that he was. No song sounds like the next and everyone has it's own destinctive sound and vibe to it. To qoute Shannon: "I find myself singing the same songs everyday" that is exactly how I feel about this cd. I listed to it all the time and I don't think that I will ever get sick of it. So if you are a Blind Melon fan or if you are not, I would suggest getting all three of their cd's and just listen. The lyrics and the music is all that matters and trust me, once you listen to any one of their cd's you too will be hooked.
