| Bad Religion - The Process of Belief Band: Bad Religion Tracks: - Supersonic - Prove It - Can't Stop It - Broken - Destined for Nothing - Materialist - Kyoto Now! - Sorrow - Epiphany - Evangeline - The Defense - The Lie - You Don't Belong - Bored and Extremely Dangerous Still Making an Impact... This is it!!! Bad Religion is back and they have created one of their finest albums ever. Not usually the case for a twenty-year old band. The original songwriting team of singer Greg Graffin and guitarist Brett Gurewitz, arguably the McCartney/Lennon of punk, have reunited and The Band now features an impressive three-guitar attack and versatile former session drummer Brooks Wackerman. Longtime fans or newer fans who were hooked on the more recent albums like "No Substance" or "The New America" will be VERY pleased. "The Process of Belief" is an album that is both as fast as the older stuff like "Suffer", "Against the Grain", and "Generator", and as diverse as My Favorite BR album, "Stranger Than Fiction", the last album to fully feature Gurewitz until now. As for the songs, Bad Religion basically pioneered the modern hybrid of raw heaviness and multiple-vocal harmonies. For the most part, the album is chock full of that speed and those "oozin aahs" in tracks like "Supersonic" and "Can't Stop It", but along with the expected come some new and welcome surprises such as the acoustic guitars in the verses of "Broken", the Police-ish opening of "Sorrow", the hypnotic and moody "The Defense", and even a message to the outcasts in "You Don't Belong". This is punk at its finest and then some. Bad Religion continue to offer the goods while evolving in its sound, and they still have insightful comments to make about the world we Live in. Don't walk, run to your nearest modem and own this ... Another Bad Religion transformation Bad Religion tends to make albums in trilogies. SUFFER, NO CONTROL, & AGAINST THE GRAIN we're hard hitting punk rock, while GENERATOR, RECIPE FOR HATE, & STRANGER THAN FICTION we're showing their dark sides and experimentation. GRAY RACE, NO SUBSTANCE, & NEW America we're explorations of melodicism and different lyrical perspectives. And now, alas a new era of Bad Religion is upon us. It shows a mixture of all of their styles and also features Brett Gurewitz back at the helm after an 8 year abscence. 1. Supersonic (10/10) Holy Blistering punk rock Batman!<BR>2. Bored and Extremely Dangerous (10/10) Best album of 2002 and one of the greatest albums ever made! Bad Religion is back once again, and in a big way. This is due to 2 reasons. First off, they are back home on Epitaph Records after a few years on Atlantic. Secondly, Brett Gurewitz has rejoined the band, reuniting him and Mr. Greg Graffin as the Lennon/McCartney of punk rock music, and ending the dry spell of the 3 BR recordings without Mr. Brett on them. With these two things now on their side, Bad Religion has recorded an album that is not only one of their best albums yet, but also one of the greatest punk cd's of ALL TIME! It's not just an improvement over other cd's, it is a complete evolution and a new beginning for punk rock music. Let's take a look: 1. Supersonic- What a way to start off the album. Running under 2 minutes, this song gets right to the point with sick guitars, lightning-paced drums, and the trademark harmonies of Bad Religion. The chorus will have you singing along without a doubt. 2. Prove It- Another quick, to the point song, however, this one runs just over a minute. This is the point where you start feelin the vibe of the album. 3. Can't Stop It- Another quickie running just over a minute. This is definitely the heaviest track on the album. Bone-crunching guitars and drumwork. This is when you know the album is going to kick your behind. Look at that, 3 amazing, fast-paced, heavy tracks right in a row. Totaling at only 3 1/2 minutes. By now you won't be able to resist listening to this disc. 4. Broken- This is the song that will make you realize you are listening to one of the greatest punk cd's of all time. When the styles and pacings of the songs Change but keep the same intensity, it is just amazing. Broken is a little slower paced, however, it is still heavy during the chorus. The acoustic guitar during the verses is just plain awesome. 5. Destined For Nothing- Another hard hitting song. This one has some great WHOA OH WHOA's in it, showing off the amazing harmonizing skill of Bad Religion once again. Great lyrics, and the bridge is awesome. 6. Materialist- Another under-2 minute track, this one has some more great lyrics that take a shot at people who find solace through their material possessions. Not the strongest track on the album, but some great lyrics. 7. Kyoto Now!- This is hands down the best track on the album. The guitar intro is awesome, and the way Greg comes in with the vocals is awesome. This song contains some of the most thoughtful lyrics on the album, along with an awesome harmonized chorus, a killer guitar solo, and a very fun drum fill. 8. Sorrow- Although it is the first single from the album, I find it a bit weak. The lyrics are very good, however, the pace and flow of the song doesn't do it for me. Cool little intro though that reminded me of Th Buy Bad Religion The Process Of Belief at Amazon.com Buy posters at Allposters.comJamster - the latest ringtones for your phone! |
