| Anouk - Urban Solitude Classification: Pop Band: Anouk Tracks: - In The Sand - Don't - R U Kiddin Me - Tom Waits - Urban Solitude - U Being U - Michel - Dark - My Best Wasn't Good Enoug - It Wasn't Me - Cry - Body Brain - My Friend Just Anouk I think this album great. Anouk has a great voice and her music is very good, the lyrics are very mature. Since the first single of this cd " r u kiddin' me " to the last single " Michel", Urban Solitude is a rock cd with slow songs too. Her duet with Dinand Woesthoff in "my best wasn't good enough" is so beautiful and it' my fav track. "Tom Waits" it's a beautiful balad, "My Friend" it's a cool song jus with a voice and a piano."Urban Solitude" a cool rock song ... Well, i have to say ... I Love this cd and i adore Anouk ! The really good stuff has to be imported nowadays. Remember the soulful bluesy rock tunes of the late 60's and early 70's? How about the kickass hard rock of the mid and late 70's? Perhaps you prefer a reggae beat or some of today's rap. Anouk Teeuwe at times explores it all and through it all, this superhot Dutch Band ROCKS! Janis, I think, would have touched on music like this had she lived. Urban Solitude is life on the streets; it's hard, it's rough, it'll hit you deep where you live. Good bands rise to the level of greatness traveling through the nightclub trenches, and the hard living shows in the music they write. Agressive gentleness This album is a sheer mix of rock, ballads and raw emotion. Anouks raw voice carries the tunes with out fancy tricks as many female singers try to pull off. her vocal range in amazingly Strong and so is her talent. I first got "Together alone" the album in Holland and fell in Love with anou alf minute ditty that continues accelerating the same sample over an odd bass groove. Then "Do or Die" kicks in and we are in pop/punk heaven for another two minutes before we reach the first of the albums many highpoints. This being the lovely "The Turning Tide." Northern Lites, first single, is a wonderful slice of Beach Boys pop with a tropical flavorings and steel drumming. The album then begins to experiment for a few tracks. "Wherever I Lay My Phone That's My Home" is repellant at first but after several listens its genius will shine through. Second single "Fire in my Heart" is a Triumph and closer "Keep the Cosmic Trigger Happy" is the catchiest thing here and wouldn't be out of place if it were recorded in the Brit explosion of 1995. SFA are undoubtedly the most constantly creative group working in music today. (Mansun are up there) They combine the catchy with the avante garde in a way that no other group do and each of their albums gets better perhaps international success lay on the horizon.
