There's a couple of tunes on "Punk Goes Metal" that are a bit different and unique- "Love Song" by Ten Foot Pole is pretty cool and the Atari's version of "I Remember You" is fun. But most of the songs end up sounding just like the originals. The guitar and drum sound is definitely in that pop/punk vein but it doesn't do enough to set a song like "Looks That Kill" or "Little Fighter" apart from the original. And the only way you can tell the Ozzy covers apart are the American accents on the vocals. I can't really speak for the covers of Leather Pirate's "Why Rock" or St. Madness' "Sexual Abuse" since I've never heard of either of those two bands. But if you're not expecting much, it's a decent batch of '80s hard rock redone, but not all that exciting. Finally 80's metel gets a tribute album!!!!! If you like songd performed a little different then you remember, this is the album for you. lots of great track from 80's metal acts and some classic metal scta like AC/DC are con=vered by no-name punk bands!! its great to hear songs like "Talk Dirty To Me" and "I Remember You" redone differently. If you are a fan of Heavy Metal, get this CD!!! the only regret i have about this CD is the "Love Song" track, it is such a great song but this remake is REALLY BAD!!! other then that, a pretty good CD!!! great cover cd punk goes metal is probably one of the better all-cover cds. i heard that some of My Favorite bands (ataris, new found glory, guttermouth, and more) were covering metal songs i knew i had to get this cd. the best songs are breaking the law by divit, heaven isnt too far away by NFG, i remember you by The Ataris and a lot more. get this cd if you like punk, metal, or both.
