| Aeternus - Burning the Shroud Band: Aeternus Tracks: - Burning The Shroud - Midnatt Storm - Raven and Blood (1999 version) - To Enter The Realm of Legend (Live) - When The Crow's Shadow Falls (Live) - The Summoning of Shadows (Live) - Cuchulain (Live) - Dark Rage (7" version) - Fire and Wind - In The Darkest Circles of Time Aeternus is the BEST I'll review this song by song. Burning The Shroud opens with the Ultra brutal title track; it's like the material found on Shadows of Old but much better. Vrolok's drumming has improved greatly, he slaughters just about every other drummer in the ENTIRE metal scene. Then it's onto Midnat Storm, which opens with an awesome piano solo, beethoven WISHES he could play as good as the beautiful Morrigan. Midnat Storm was originally recorded for Shadows of Old but didn't make it onto the album for some reason, which i find odd, as it CRUSHES any of the other material on that album. Then we have the very good Raven and Blood which was also discarded from Shadows. The main riff used throughout that track is killer. Next we have 4 Live tracks, the first didn't do anything for me as I didn't like the original version, and I was dissapointed that the only song they used from ...And so the Night Became was When the Crows Shadow Falls; as it was my least favorite track from that CD. But then we're treated to 2 brutal Live tracks from Shadows. Overall, Aeternus sounds spectacular live, and I really hope they come to the states some day. Track 8, a re-recording of Dark Rage has a really muddy production, and it suffers from that, but that's such a great song it doesn't really matter in the end. Fire and Wind has great acoustic riffs thrown in here and there and is as relaxing as an aeternus tune is going to get. Finally, the CD closes with IN THE DARKEST CIRCLES OF TIME. Tied with Midnat Storm as the best song on BTS, Darkest Circles is Ultra dark and the heavy drumming patterns remind me of the Columbian Internal Suffering. Great job on the booklet too....it has photos of the whole Band performing live; and it's good that they've left behind the costumes and corpse paint. Aeternus is one of the best bands in the world, and my personal favorite. See how good they are for yourself. Purchase this CD.
