I'll play with these Toys.

When I listen to atrocities like Just Push Play and Nine Lives, it's easy to forget that Aerosmith was once one of the greatest American bands of all time. Yes, they were the mirror image of the Rolling Stones, but they rocked like few others in the '70s, at least until their drug addictions took over. Steven Tyler was one hell of a frontman, Joe Perry has always been a great guitarist, and everybody else was on top of their game in '75.
Toys In The Attic is the fruit of Aerosmith's early genius. All of these tracks are well-crafted hard rock excellence, from the FM radio standards Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion to the punky title track. Other favorites include the innuendo-laden Big Ten Inch Record, the menacing Round And Round, raunchy hard rockers Uncle Salty and Adam's Apple, and the ballad You See Me Crying.
This album has a gritty and lived-in feel to the production (almost like Exile On Main Street, but with decipherable lyrics) that emphazises just how fake, slick, and contrived Aerosmith's new material sounds. It sounds right for the ambience of the album.
I feel a little odd giving an Aerosmith album Five stars, but Toys In The Attic deserves all of them. If you're a new Aerosmith fan, or a rock fan in general this should be in your collection. I also reccommend the self-titled debut, Get Your Wings, and the followup Rocks which are all great albums. Oh yeah!

No album fillers here

All the songs are great. Here are my ratings of every song in order from best to worst.
1. No More No More- a history of the band, Love the line "Baby I'm a Dreamer"<BR>2. Toys in the Attic-This song rocks, great guitar work on this one, fast paced song about leaving the things you Love behind.<BR>3.Sweet Emotion-their biggest hit ever, a song Steven wrote about a bandmates lover I think, amazing guitar riffs<BR>4. Walk this way- catchy song and riffs, mainly about sex drugs and rock and roll<BR>5. Adam's Apple- its about a Adam and Eve and the creation of man, good song, the guitar solo rocks<BR>6. You see me cryin- a beautiful ballad, Steven must have wrote this about a girl<BR>7. Round and Round- this song rocks, I think it almost sounds like an 80's rock hair Band song, sound alot like heavy metal, definitaly the heaviest song on the album.<BR>Uncle Salty- I dont know what this one is about, it is not heavy 8.has a catch little guitar hook<BR>9. Big Ten Inch Record-my least favorite song on the record, even though it gets more airplay than every song on this record besides walk this way and Sweet emotion. An old school rock cover, old school blues.

When Aerosmith became a household name

If there was one album that put Aerosmith on the map and firmly established the band, it was this one. After an awesome debut album and a good follow-up (Get your Wings), Aerosmith exploded with this record, which contains two hard-rock staples, 'Walk this Way' and 'Sweet Emotion,' which almost everyone has heard enough to sing along to.
Of course, those two tracks are by far the best on the album, but the rest is good too. All in all, its a great record from start to finish, and if you can get past the somewhat Immature Innuendo (like the song 'Big Ten Inch Record'), you are in for a great treat. No one does classic rock quite like Aerosmith.
